Time Out Fun

Well, it's been a while since I last posted and Grace is taking a really really long nap and our Internet is working right now so I will post a little... not that I have much to post about, but I figured that the GPs would enjoy a few new pictures : )

I just thought these two were pretty cute!

We have a situation that could turn into a problem on down the road. Grace LOVES time out! She knows that she will get put in time out if she stands up in the rocking chair. So any time she wants a little attention she...
sits... then...

stands and this is the look I get... like Mommy please pay attention to me so I can get in trouble and go to time out!

I say "sit on your bottom, Grace" and she does this a few times.

Finally she will either sit down or run to time out and sit there giggling cause she is so happy to be there. She sits patiently (for the most part) with no fussing for about 30 seconds till I come and talk to her. Then once I have explained why she is in time out and she "apologises" we hug and she is off to another adventure. So far time out has served as a good change of scenery for her and she usually does not go back and do the same thing that got her in time out in the first place. But really? What do you do when your kid likes their punishment? Isn't that kind of NOT the point? Oh well, I guess we will figure it our as we creep closer and closer to the age of 2! Yikes!

Folding Clothes

Sometimes in the morning we turn up the music and get our clothes folding done. Grace loves to fold her PJs. I took a little video the other morning while she was very focused on her folding. I know it seems kind of simple, but I love that I get to fold clothes with Grace in the mornings. We have such sweet times together just doing our every day things. She is great company.

Little Lessons

Aunt MA took this little video of Grace singing some of her songs and identifying some of her body parts after bath time one night last week.

And I must say, I do have a pretty stinkin' awesome hair-do in this one :)

"Hi" and "Bye"

Grace just wanted to say "hi" and "bye" to everyone out there :)
Hope you are having a good day!

Grace Takes a Tumble and Gets a Popsicle

On Labor Day morning we took Grace out for a little walk. She loves to get out of her stroller and run around by the fountain. I thought it would be cute to take a little video for all the grandparents to see. Then she fell flat on her face! She has never fallen out like that in public on the concrete before. And I just happened to get it on video...

So I scooped her up and carried her home while she screamed her head off. Then we got inside and I gave her a popsicle. Did you know that popsicles are the cure all for a 15 month old? Well, they are. We always keep a box in the fridge. Jonathan thought this video would be a good way to let you know that she is indeed ok. It is pretty funny to watch her eat the popsicle, too :)

I don't know if you can see it or not, but here is a picture of the big bruise on her forehead. It is already starting to look a whole lot better.

"There's never a dull moment, y'all... Never a dull moment."

Fun Facts About A Fifteen Month Old

Yesterday Grace turned 15 months old! I cannot believe how the time has flown by. I really do not have a baby girl anymore!!! Let's see.... what can I tell you about Grace these days.....

  • Her little feet move so fast when she walks that I can barely keep up sometimes.
  • Her favorite place to play outside is the fountain at the college.
  • Her favorite place to play inside is in her closet.
  • She loves to sing. So far she can sing (bits of) Elmo's Song, ABC's, The B-I-B-L-E, The Rocking Song, Daddy's Song, E-I-E-I-O, and I am sure a few more that I can't think of. If we are singing a song that she doesn't know the words to she just sings "ahh" or "no" or hums. It is really fun.
  • Her favorite places to sing are in the shopping cart at Wal-Mart and in the bath tub.
  • Her favorite music to dance to is Bob Wills and Asleep at the Wheel.
  • Grace's favorite dance moves are spinning in circles and stomping her feet as fast as she possibly can.
  • She likes to dance while I cook breakfast.

  • For some reason Grace loves to play with the sacks of potatoes that I keep under the kitchen cart. She carries them around the living room and likes to sit with them in her chair. She is equally as interested in baking potatoes and sweet potatoes. She is also a fan of eating french fries.
  • Grace loves to eat all fruits, most veggies, cheeses, breads, beans, and basically NO meat.
  • Her favorite way to drink is through a straw. She can drink a whole juice box at Chick-Fil-A in about 2 minutes. It takes her all afternoon to drink a full sippy cup of watered down juice or milk.
  • She loves pickles. This totally grosses me out.
  • She loves to help me cook.
  • Her favorite kitchen tool to play with is a wire whisk.
  • Grace still loves to help me with the laundry.
  • Her favorite things to fold are her pajamas.
  • She also enjoys wiping off her tray after dinner time and "dusting" the furniture for me. How did I get so lucky?!?!
  • Jonathan says that when I am in the shower she usually plays around and sits on the toolbox right outside of the bathroom and waits for me to come out. I have left the toolbox there for this very reason. I think it is so sweet.
  • Grace loves three things more than anything. She loves her baby doll, Lucy, who she just calls baby, her paci, that she calls bapi, and her blanket. She is absolutely happiest when she has all three. Bedtime is usually a good time for Grace :)
  • She also loves to give hugs. She will hug something or someone and say "oooohhh" and rock back and forth and pat whatever is fortunate enough to be receiving the hug on the back.
  • Grace's version of giving kisses is to put her forehead down so you can kiss her. Sometimes she will say "Mmmeeeee" instead of the "ma" kissing sound that we (and Elmo) make.
  • Speaking of Elmo, Grace is captivated by him. She will not watch much on TV, but she will definitely watch Elmo. She notices everything Elmo when we are in the store.
  • When Grace notices something that she wants to see or thinks is neat she points to it and says "Ah! Ah! Ah!" like it is the absolute neatest thing in the whole world and she can't believe she is so lucky to see whatever it is.
  • Bath time is still a favorite time. She can say the word bubble. So when Grace sees that she is going to get a bubble bath we usually hear something like... "Ah! Ah! Ah! Bubble! Bubble! Ah! Ah! Bubble!"
  • "B" is Grace's favorite letter right now. She can say (and comprehend) the words bath, bible, bubble, baby, bye bye, bite, baa (like a sheep)... along with mommy, daddy, no, moo (like a cow), Nana (both the fruit and seeing a picture of nana), teeth, tee tee, that (it sounds more like dat) and I am sure a few more that I can't think of right now. It's amazing how much easier it is to communicate now that she can say just these few words.
  • She is also getting pretty good at identifying body parts. She knows (on most occasions) where to find her head, mouth, teeth, ears, cheek, chin, eyes (she squints but won't point to them) tongue, feet, hands, toes, arms, and legs.
  • She can not say Elmo, but whenever she sees him she hums "Elmo's Song"
  • She also can not say "yes." I think she is pretty confused about the whole yes and no thing. If you ask her, for instance, if she wants to eat a snack, she will run to the table with a big smile saying "no no no" and shaking her head obviously excited about getting a snack.
  • She likes to pretend she is reading. She will sit down with a book, flip through the pages and point to different things while making up words. It is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Hope you enjoyed learning a few fun facts about 15 month old Grace!
