Oh my. I feel like we have almost made it. We have a couple more busy days and then... gasp... nothing. I had no idea spring semester would be this hard. Maybe it's cause I'm pregnant. Maybe it's cause my child is almost 2. Maybe it's cause my husband works way more than 40 hours a week while getting a masters degree. Maybe it's cause we are so far away from family during all of this. Anyway, we are plum-tuckered-out here at the
Nida house. We are tired, but it is a good tired. We enjoy the work we are doing, and I think we are doing a good job. However, it is going to be SO very nice to have some good old fashioned laying around the house next week. Honestly, I have no idea what to post about. So let's see... I will just post some pictures and tell you whats been happening around here.

Grace saw her first wheelchair basketball today! We went to Warm Springs, GA today to see Mary Allison play for the US team. We had a great time despite the lost to Germany by 5 in the championship game. Grace sat in my lap for the entire game. She was totally
mesmerized by what was going on. By the end she was clapping and cheering "USA" and "Defense". After the game we talked to her about what she had seen. It is always funny to hear what she takes and remembers from new situations.
Here is something along the lines of how the conversation went...
me: What did you think of the basketball game?
g: Loud... a little loud.
me: what did you see?
g: MA. basketball. wheelchairs. they fall down.... they get back up.
me: that's right! what else happened? did they have basketballs?
g: throw them... (waving her hands in the air) in the air... in the air.

Other memorable events from the day... We walked around the pond with MA and saw geese and their
goslings. Jonathan and Grace "honked" at them and it was absolutely hilarious. Grace discovered automatic sliding doors. She thought they were pretty awesome. She also ate every single bite of her
quesadilla at dinner. This child absolutely loves a
quesadilla.

The above picture is a prefect representation of my child. I told her that we were going to go to the store on this particular morning. Five minutes later she came to me looking like this and
declared "I'm ready to go, Mommy!"

When we first moved here Grace's Sunday School teacher described her as "precocious". I can not think of a better description. She is definitely giving me a run for my money here lately. I think it may have something to do with our always consistent routine being more inconsistent lately, and I think it also must have something to do with the fact that she is less than a month away from the big number 2. Anyway, I don't think I have ever seen a person with more energy. Last week she was determined to learn how to jump. She jumped around the house all week until she finally learned how to get both feet off the ground at the same time. Mission accomplished!

The up side to all this activity is the fact that she is taking great naps and sleeping late... both great for me and little baby : ) Also, I am trying to treasure each day when she wakes up from her nap. Grace will lay on the sofa with me and snuggle for about 30 minutes. Sometimes she will fall back asleep and lay with me for over and hour. I LOVE this time we share, and it is also bittersweet cause I know it will probably change once little bit comes along.

I guess one of the other reasons I am so tired is because it is just so hard to try and teach a 2 year old right from wrong. Have you ever tried this? I know most of you have. Have you ever felt like you mine as well be trying to discipline a bird? Have you ever felt as though you were talking and your child is not even aware that you are in the same room with them? I seriously don't know of anything more infuriating than when your child displays willful disobedience... And then the guilt that comes after you know you have lost it and handled a situation in a way you wish you could do over. Let me just say that my child may have a bit of a stubborn streak. I know that it is best for me to be firm and teach her right from wrong, but can I just insert an "ugh" here. This is
sooo much easier said than done.

In other fun news, we went to Savannah earlier this week. Jonathan had to go for work, and we got to tag along! Grace kept on saying that we were going to banana, Georgia : ) He had meetings in the morning and then was free in the afternoon to hang out with us. We got there on Sunday and made a quick trip to the beach. Grace was definitely NOT impressed. She saw the sand and said "snow!" Not quite : ) She would only tiptoe through the sand and Jonathan had to hold her any time we got near the water. She kept on saying "Big water! Big water!" I think she was a little overwhelmed by the whole thing. The next afternoon we went back. This time we brought sand toys and beach gear. It didn't take long before she was running through the sand and jumping in the waves and making sand castles (all with mommy and daddy of course). In the mornings while Jonathan was in his meetings Grace and I went to the mall where we rode the carousel and train and ate
Cinnabon. On our rainy day, we went to the Bass Pro Shops and watched the fish get dinner. We went downtown one evening and walked and ate. It was so nice. We had an absolutely wonderful time on our little vacation to Savannah.

Well, that's a little update on whats been happening around our house. I will have to give a special post to little bit next week because guess what? Monday is the big day! We go to get our ultrasound and hopefully find out if baby is a boy or girl!!!! Until then...
Happy Mother's Day!!!
ps. I get to have a visit from good old B. Davis for my Mother's Day : )
