Well, this year we have TWO kids at South Highlands! I've got to say that this really wasn't the plan to begin with, but you know things never seem to go according to plan around here. Jack joined his big sister this week in the Vailes Whale tank classroom. The short story on how we ended up sending him is that since he doesn't do preschool I thought it would be a good idea for him to try the entrance exam just to see how he is doing and give him a sort of trial run for the next year. After he took it I decided I had better start teaching him letters etc since we really had not worked on that much. Well, once we started he blazed on ahead with lightning speed reading everything I have him and showing great improvement in his hand eye coordination. He also really seemed to WANT to be at school. (This was a new one for me) So when he ended up doing well on his test and being accepted we decided to go ahead and let him try big school.
He was SO excited and proud to go on Monday! The new has definitely worn off now (it's Friday) so I will have to get back with you about how things end up going in the end. But it really does help to know his teacher already and have Grace there to help! It has definitely been a really hard week for everyone. When you're with a kid 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, for nearly 5 years you miss them like crazy when they aren't there any more... And they miss you just as much no matter how outgoing their personality. Things just aren't right if you know what I mean. BUT here we are all the same, and things can't stay the same as much as I would absolutely LOVE for them to.
