Lunch

Grace only likes tomato soup when it has goldfish in it. She likes to count the fish as she drops them in and then count them as she eats them. Today, she was able to eat 3 fish per spoonful. She thought this was pretty wonderful :-)

Dressed and Ready to Go

Grace accessorized with some things she found in her closet this morning.

"Look! I'm all wintery, Mommy!"

"Except for that my shoes have little holes in them. That would be cooooooold! That's silly, Mommy!"

"I think there's a kitty cat out there. He must be cold. He needs a blanket."

"Can I go outside now?"

Siblings

My mom sent me this in the mail today...

She thought it resembled this...

I will have to agree with her on this one :-)

Tuesday Fun!

Every Tuesday we go to toddler time at the library. We have gotten to know most of the other kids and moms who attend and our librarians! Usually Samuel and his mom Karin come too and more often than not we all have lunch and play afterwards (reason # 381937392 that it is wonderful to be a stay at home mom). Today Samuel and Karin came over to our house. Other than getting a pretty severe case of the giggles, which delayed the eating of food, these two had a good time as always!

True Grits

I have always loved grits. I can not tell you how many times I have eaten a bowl of grits and scrambled eggs for breakfast in my lifetime. I totally don't get why they are only eaten in the south (like so many other wonderful things!) and why people don't like them (salt and butter are not that hard to come by). There are many great things about living in Georgia, but one of the best is that everyone around here loves grits! Obviously people bring them to breakfasts and brunches, but my favorite Georgian thing is to have them at a fish fry! Yep, you read right, people here do not eat fried catfish (btw, they fry their fish whole here too) without serving grits alongside. Our favorite fish place even has a grit bar where you can get a bowl of either regular or cheese grits to go with your fish and hushpuppies and sweet pickles. We don't even order Grace a kids meal anymore. She is more than happy to eat just grits! Which brings me around to the point I was trying to make...

This kiddo LOVES grits just as much as her momma! So you can guess what we have for breakfast around here many days. Aunt jemima grits... The real kind... You know... they take 20 minutes... Walmart doesn't carry them... You can only find them at the Piggly Wiggly ;-) (boy, is this a southern blog post or what!)

And what is the best/easiest way to make these grits (just incase someone from up north stumbles across this blog)... Well, when you measure out your water use half the required amount of water and the rest milk (go ahead and make it 2%. You'll survive). Then make sure to add plenty of butter salt and good cheddar cheese at the end. And mmmmmm.... Pretend your in Georgia for the morning :-)

Oh, and if you have small children and are not sure what do with them for the whole 20 minutes it takes to cook these... Just get 'em dressed and let the older one dance around the baby for a good 10-15 minutes. Both will be entertained and you'll be surprised at how much they will eat :-)
